BCSI's Flexion application can be technically described as a web server for the purpose of video and audio surveillance operating on the stable RedHat Linux O/S.  The open architecture of BCSI's Flexion web service application allows clients the freedom to monitor and manage their NVR system from any standard web browser or location.  This structure additionally allows clients the option to manage their BCSI NVR systems in both a local stand-alone environment and a networked environment using BCSI’s SuperClient™ software.

As the Flexion Vision Diagram below shows, the open architecture design of the Flexion application can be seen in each stage of data Capturing, Storage and Delivery, and shows how each of those interact with the Intelligent Decision Processor to create an effective and efficient solution for BCSI customers.

With BCSI’s soon to be released Developers Kit, customers and developers will soon have the API frame work needed to connect their choice of sensory devices, analytic software or custom solutions to their Flexion NVR system.  Also in development is BCSI’s SMART Exchange network.  The vision of the SMART Exchange network is to provide customers a choice of several 3rd party software partners and developers who  provide data analytic application solutions.  These analytic application solutions will be focused in categories such as Face Recognition, Pattern Recognition, Abandoned Object Detection and Boundary Crossing Detection, and designed to connect seamlessly with BCSI’s Flexion application.
The diagram below explains the design of the Flexion application and our vision for it’s future.

Capture
The Flexion application currently allows the connection of most analog cameras, with continued support for some of the most popular IP and PTZ cameras.  BCSI is currently working on expanding the functionality of the open architecture design to allow other sensory devices such as thermostatic, environmental, biometric and chemical sensors to connect through a SOAP API integration.  This API integration will soon be available on our web site with the future vision to provide customers more choices of what sensory devices they choose to connect for video and data capturing.

Storage
The Flexion web service application was designed using the reliable PostgreSQL database to handle heavy stress loads of video capturing and storage on Seagate server hard drives.  In the above diagram, the storage of data and its close communication with the Intelligent Decision Processor of the Flexion application is an important relationship for post-event search and real-time processing.

BCSI’s option for up to 750 MB of internal storage means you always have plenty of space for your time lapse and stored events.  Our continued support for the latest codecs such as MPEG 4, means customers can store more data at lower costs.  For mission critical security situations where hard drive failure is not an option, BCSI provides a military grade SSD flash memory option where the Flexion application boots and runs from the SSD flash drive for superior stability.

Intelligent Decision Processing
Intelligent Decision Processing is the inner circle of the diagram above, and is the intelligent core of the Flexion web service application.  It manages data capturing from sensory devices, stores and communicates data, and delivers information to multiple devices to view and manage.  Fast processor speeds are key to high performance for these functions, which is why BCSI offers the high powered Intel Core2 Duo in its Pro Edition NVR.
BCSI is currently creating a Developers Kit that will be published in the future on the BCSI web site, where customers and developers can access the open architecture API frame work to integrate their choice of sensory devices, analytic software or custom solutions to their Flexion NVR system.

The future vision of the Flexion application’s open architecture design is to provide customers with multiple options on how they choose to manage their sensory data.  Under development is a unique trigger and action matrix that will be downloadable to future Flexion applications, which will give users the power to create custom rule-based decision responses to sensory data.  In this future release under development, clients can also choose from many pre-configured solutions and analytic applications from BCSI’s partners within the SMART Exchange network.

The vision of the SMART Exchange network, which is currently being developed, is to provide customers a choice of several 3rd party software partners and developers who  provide data analytic application solutions.  These analytic application solutions will be focused in categories such as Face Recognition, Pattern Recognition, Abandoned Object Detection and Boundary Crossing Detection, and designed to connect seamlessly with BCSI’s Flexion application.

Delivery
Click Here to View! The Flexion application has an intuitive user interface designed for various skill levels of security personnel, with advanced functionality available to utilize whenever you choose to use it.  Since the Flexion application is a true web service application, clients have the convenience of full view AND control functionality with their desktop, laptop, Smartphone, PDA and cell phone.  There is no proprietary software needed as the application can be viewed and controlled from any standard web browser.
Many security installations have two or more NVR’s that need to be networked together.  BCSI’s SuperClient™ allows over 100 BCSI NVR workstations to be networked together and managed from one application interface for convenience and efficiency.  The SuperClient™ makes managing a security network easy, with special features such as ‘HeartBeat’ system reporting that allows clients to monitor systems on the network for improved uptime. BCSI keeps up with the latest advancements in codecs by supporting better compression codecs such as MPEG 4, allowing clients to get the most from their Flexion NVR system.
